POLICE were called to a report of a car being driven erratically which had collided with a vehicle in Greenock’s West End.

Officers attended the incident on Forsyth Street at 11:10pm on Sunday.

Sergeant Jason Logsdon said: “The driver appeared to be unconscious requiring police to force entry to the car to ensure their safety.”

A 43-year-old male was arrested for allegedly being intoxicated while driving. He is scheduled to appear at court on a later date.

Area commander Chief Inspector Paul Cameron said: “It’s disappointing to see a small minority of motorists who still think it’s acceptable to drive while intoxicated.

“This behaviour is dangerous, puts lives at risk and is simply unacceptable.

“Inverclyde officers supported by Road Policing officers will continue to carry out regular patrols in Inverclyde to keep our roads safe and will deal with this type of offending robustly.”
