
LOCAL charity the Innerkip Society held its 228th annual general meeting and anniversary dinner at the Tontine Hotel.
The society, founded in 1798, makes charitable payments to or for the benefit of individuals or organisations in need throughout Inverclyde.
Dr Barry McCusker chaired the evening and reported that during 2025 payments of just under £40,000 were made.

The toast to the society was made by the Rev Ian Miller and the toast to the new members was made by writer and broadcaster Dr Vanessa Collingridge. The reply to the new members was made by local minister the Rev Jonathan Fleming.
Grace was delivered in verse by former moderator the Rev Bill Hewitt and the vote of thanks by past preses Mark McDaid.
Musical entertainment was provided by Kenny Wilson, with accompanist David Mackie. Piping was done by Alan Watt.
Various fines were levied throughout the evening for real or imagined infractions and the £1,400 raised will be utilised for the society’s purposes.
Jamie Walker was elected as preses with Mark Rodger as vice-preses. Past preses Barry Dyer retired as a director and Ross McWilliams was elected to the vacant director’s position.
