A CYCLE path linking Battery Park and Container Way in Greenock is nearing completion

The route includes new segregated sections — some permanent, some not, depending on usage — on parts of Eldon Street, Brougham Street, Grey Place and Dalrymple Street.

The work is taking place as part of the ‘Spaces for People’ pandemic initiative, which is funded by the Scottish Government and delivered through charity Sustrans Scotland.

The existing shared foot and cycle path between Battery Park and the Esplanade has been widened with bolt-down kerbs and bollards installed to create a dedicated cycling lane.

This was initially agreed as a temporary measure but may be retained depending on usage numbers.

The existing cycle lane on The Esplanade has been widened, and on Campbell Street the footway is being widened to accommodate the new bike path. These are permanent measures.

The foot/cycle path from Brougham Street to Laird Street and Grey Place has been widened with bolt-down kerbs and bollards installed to create a dedicated cycling lane. This will be temporary but could also be retained depending on usage levels.
