GREENOCK Town Hall hosted the inaugural conference of new pro-independence party Alba.

Hundreds of delegates attended the two-day event during which Alex Salmond was re-elected as leader and Kenny MacAskill became deputy leader.

Inverclyde councillor Jim McEleny’s departure from the SNP to join Alba was announced. His son Chris, also an Inverclyde councillor, is general secretary of Alba.
