ICONIC Greenock Sights Feature In Dance Film Display

25 November, 2021 | Local, Noticeboard

SCOTTISH choreographer Katie Armstrong releases a new digital dance film exhibition next week at The Beacon Arts Centre, Greenock.

The Glasgow-based dance artist met with different groups from the Beacon online during lockdown in 2020.

During these sessions Katie learned about local places, which are iconic and meaningful to the local community.

A series of short intricate dance duets were then captured through film in those locations and will be released as a limited exhibition at The Beacon Arts Centre from Monday 29 November to Friday 3 December.

The Sketches exhibition — open from 10am to 5pm at the Custom House Quay venue — features drone footage over James Watt Dock Crane, scenes within the iconic Tobacco Warehouse and views over Greenock from Belville Community Garden.

The film project was run in partnership with Beacon Arts Centre through support from Creative Scotland.
