HUNDREDS More Test Positive For Covid But Infection Rate Falls

INVERCLYDE’S covid infection rate has decreased but remains the highest in Scotland according to latest weekly figures.

The district’s seven-day positivity level was 438 per 100,000 of the population during the week up to 9 January, down from 578.

Only two other areas were above 400 — Renfrewshire (403) and North Lanarkshire (409). Dumfries and Galloway was on 399 and Glasgow was on 396. The Scottish level was 285.

There were 341 positive cases in Inverclyde over the seven-day period, according to Public Health Scotland.
