HOUSING Can Replace Joinery Workshop In Kilmacolm

28 December, 2020 | Local, Planning

INVERCLYDE planners have agreed that a joinery workshop Kilmacolm can be demolished and replaced with houses.

Officials approved the principle of residential development in Glenburn Lane; a further application with detailed designs will still be required.

A indicative plan shows the site could accommodate two three-bedroom semi-detached homes.

Kilmacolm Civic Trust did not object, saying that building houses there would be a “vast improvement”.

A report by council planners stated: “The industrial use of the building and wider site is at odds with the established residential area in which it is positioned.”

Removal of the workshop would be to the benefit of the character and amenity of the surrounding properties, they concluded.
