HOMES Plan For Empty Kilmacolm Farm Buildings

1 July, 2025 | Local

PLANNERS are being asked to approve conversion of a disused Kilmacolm farm steading into dwellings.

The buildings at Milton Farm, Milton Road, beside the B788, would be turned into four three-bedroom homes.

A design statement submitted with the planning application by Block Nine Architects explains: “Milton Farm is set in the rolling hills of rural Renfrewshire on the edge of the historic village of Kilmacolm. The traditional stone steading building boasts a secluded, idyllic setting on a southeast/southwest access.”

It continues: “The steading building now lays vacant, and its u-shaped layout around a courtyard and traditional features such as slate roof, stone and timber windows make it an ideal base for transformation into several dwellings.

“The design proposals for Milton Farm seek to retain the character and architectural merit of the existing steading building, whilst creating four modern dwellings for contemporary family living.”

The application is pending consideration by Inverclyde Council officials.
