STAFF at a Greenock opticians have raised £679 for research charity Breast Cancer Now after challenging themselves to walk two miles every day throughout October.

Fifteen team members from the Specsavers store in the Oak Mall walking 970 miles in total.

They also hosted a Wear It Pink day to raise further awareness for the charity, with additional donations made via a raffle in store.

Claire Kincaid, store director, said: “I’m incredibly proud of the team, who have gone above and beyond to raise money for this fantastic cause.

“Our original target was £300 so to get more than double this has been a wonderful achievement.

“We’d also like to extend our thanks to all of our customers who kindly helped us reach this monumental amount.

“So many of us have been affected by this disease in some way so we hope this money can make a vital difference for someone impacted by cancer.”
