Inverclyde Now Logo MEN Charged After Alleged Police Assault Incidents

POLICE officers were assaulted during two separate incidents in Inverclyde.

Just before 1am on Thursday, officer responded to a welfare check on a male who was traced to an address on Luss Avenue in Greenock.

The man became irate and aggressive and had to be arrested whereby he allegedly struggled violently kicking an officer on the chest and spitting at officers.

A 25-year-old man was charged with breach of the peace and assaulting two police officers and will be reported to prosecutors.

Meanwhile at 6pm on Wednesday police received reports of two intoxicated males on Bridge of Weir Road, Kilmacolm.

On, arrival officers advised them to return home however it became apparent that one of the men had an outstanding arrest warrant.

At Greenock police office the male allegedly became abusive, kicking one of the officers on his leg and making threats.

A 33-year-old man was arrested and held to appear in court from custody.
