CHAMBER Orchestra To Accompany Choir At Concert

GREENOCK Philharmonic Choir’s spring concert is on Saturday (25 March) in Lyle Kirk, Union Street, Greenock.

The group will be performing Mendelssohn’s Elijah, led by conductor Andrew McTaggart, and accompanied by Glasgow Chamber Orchestra.

The soloists will be Catriona Hewitson, Penelope Cousland, James Schouten and Ross Cumming.

The concert starts at 7.30pm, and tickets, priced £15 (under 18s free) are available by calling Calum Harbison on

Conductor Andy McTaggart said: “Elijah is a truly thrilling piece with all the drama, twists and turns of a Hollywood blockbuster.

“It flies by with a driving storyline and some of Mendelssohn’s most beautiful tunes.

“I am thrilled to have Glasgow Chamber Orchestra back alongside an incredible line up of soloists including ex-Scottish Opera emerging artist Catriona Hewitson and international mezzo-soprano Penelope Cousland.”
