HARBOUR Firm Unveils Plans For New High-Spec Buildings

A GREENOCK-based marine services company has applied for permission to build new facilities at its harbourside base.

Clyde Marine Ltd plans a programme of upgrading works, design by architects Nicholson McShane, including new offices plus welfare, workshop and storage space at Victoria Harbour.

If approved by council planners, the current portable buildings will be replaced by modern high-specification units with better accessibility and improved energy efficiency.

Finishes and design will draw on historic dockside buildings but with a modern twist.

Founded in 1913, Clyde Marine provides tug services, charter cruise vessels and vital harbour services all over the west coast of Scotland from its Greenock base.

The development will help safeguard these activities and maintain the visibility of Greenock’s maritime industry in the medium to long term.

Project architect Douglas Nicholson said: “We’re pleased to be supporting Clyde Marine’s plans for the future.

“The new development will provide a positive contribution to the historically important Clyde waterfront and serves to demonstrate the firm’s confidence in, and support for, the local area.”

A previous redevelopment proposal, drawn up in 2020, was later withdrawn.
