GREENOCK West End House Plan Is Refused

24 August, 2021 | Local, Planning

PLANNERS have rejected a proposal for a detached house on vacant ground in Greenock West End.

An application had been made to develop a two-storey, three-bedroom property to the north west Of 131 Finnart Street, beside a site at the corner with Fox Street for which planning consent for two new houses was granted recently.

Inverclyde Council officials refused the plan for various reasons.

They said it would fail to preserve or enhance the Greenock West End Conservation Area and that it would be situated on a small plot “uncharacteristic” within Finnart Street and “out of context” compared with the prevailing pattern of development.

The upper windows of the property would lead to overlooking, particularly of outdoor seating at a proposed house next door.
