27 February, 2017 | Noticeboard

A GREENOCK opticians will raise funds for Comic Relief by organising a fundraising event and selling comedy specs.

Visitors to Specsavers in the Oak Mall will be able to join in with this year’s Comic Relief theme ‘give us a wave’ with Specsavers’s official Red Nose Day glasses.

The glasses, which have a waving hand on each side, come in children’s and adult sizes and cost £2, with all the money donated to Comic Relief.

The store’s fundraising activities will also include a dress-down day on Friday 24 March (Red Nose Day) to help raise awareness of Comic Relief. All participating staff will make a donation to the charity.

Lesley Brown, store director of Specsavers in Greenock, said: “Specsavers nationally smashed its £250,000 fundraising goal during the last Comic Relief appeal and we can’t wait to contribute to this year’s total.”

Comic Relief helps poor and vulnerable people living tough lives in the UK and across Africa.
