TRIBUTE has been paid following the passing of a former Scout district commissioner.
Ian Black led Greenock Scouting from 1981 to 1990.
He also served a full term as Renfrewshire area commissioner and gave many years as group leader of both the 59th and 70th Scout groups.
The movement recognised his outstanding contribution by granting him the prestigious Silver Acorn Award for his special distinguished service.

Former Greenock and District Commissioner Kenny Wilson said: “Ian was a very well respected district commissioner, leading in his unique enthusiastic and diligent manner.
“Ian was known for his honesty, approachability and wise counsel and was a fantastic team and people manager.
“He had a great sense of fun and adventure, and encouraged the young people in all things outdoors including international camps, jamborees and events.”
At Ian’s request, his funeral is private.
