A FILM promoting Gourock to visitors has been viewed more than 50,000 times.

Gourock Community Council commissioned the footage which highlights the town’s attractions including shops, food and drink outlets and scenery.

Local business owners and staff feature throughout saying ‘welcome’.

The three-minute video was posted on the community council’s Facebook page where it has been warmly received.

William Wilson, vice-chairman of the community council and part of the production team along with Keir Murray, said: “We made the video because we felt that at this time our local businesses needed support and to know they don’t stand alone. The response has been heartfelt.”

Mr Wilson, who thanked everyone who helped with making the film, added: “While local businesses are using the video on their own social media sites, we are also grateful to McGill’s Buses and CalMac who have offered to put the film on to their social media sites.”

The effort received support from Inverclyde Council and the Discover Inverclyde tourism initiative.”
