GOUROCK Golf Club hosted its annual Gillen Open.

Members from courses all over Scotland were welcomed to participate and test their skills on the fairways and greens of Gourock.

With the sun shining and the course in great condition, scoring proved to be at a premium.

In the gross section, Gourock’s Robert Clark set the early pace when he got off to a great start and was three under through the first 13 holes, but with Matthew Chamberlain and Callum Watters putting pressure on, a few bogeys were to follow.

Robert eventually posted a one-over round of 74 which was enough to take home the trophy and collect the first major gross competition of the season.

In the nett section, Robert Davis, also from Gourock, shot his best ever score with a fantastic 76 gross which saw him finish with a nett 66 thus pipping Robert McAdam to the title.

The club thanks the greenkeepers for their work over the off-season to get the course ready, and sponsor BRBR Ardgowan Square for its support.
