31 October, 2025 | Local

INVERCLYDE has been awarded £32,000 for a project which aims to build a link between information provision and active citizenship within public libraries.

Libraries Give Us Power will involve the creation of an active citizenship librarian post, media literacy sessions, improved collection development and a series of events to open up debate and discussion.

The project will actively encourage democratic engagement and tackle mis/disinformation.

The money is coming from the Public Library Improvement Fund (PLIF) which is administered by the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) on behalf of the Scottish Government.
