Inverclyde Now Logo FOOTBALL — Update From Port Juniors Community Sports Club

19 April, 2017 | Sport

2009s — In the first match, against Pollok (White), the boys started well, passing and moving through the opposition, and managed to nick an early goal. The team was now on the front foot and attacking well but Pollok adapted to this, broke up play and started to play the long ball and the game changed for the worse. Juniors lost some concentration and conceded two quick goals at the death.

The boys started well against Parkmoor, passing and moving, mounting attack after attack. Juniors managed to score a few goals allowing them to settle down quickly. The pick of the goals came from Gary Glancy, a first-time shot from distance after a great cross from Lennon Deeney. After that the confidence was brimming in the boys and they passed through the game well to see it out convincingly

In the final game, against Langcraigs, the boys showed higher levels of fitness compared with last week. Aaron Burns played some key passes left and right to split up play. This made it easier for Lennon Deeney and Gary Glancy to play the ball into Rhys Gault who grabbed himself a quick couple of goals. Langcraigs then tried to hit back but Juniors did some great defending and there was amazing goalkeeping again from Christopher Barilli who kept a clean sheet and helped the boys run out comfortably in their last game.
