NEW plans have been submitted for development in Gourock town centre.
Nine flats and a retail unit are being proposed for the gap site at 53 Shore Street.

A mixture of one and two-bedroom properties would be provided, with lift access to all floors.
Planning permission was previously granted — in 2017 — for eight flats at the site.
A design statement included with the new application explains: “The gap site can be infilled to meet the current high demand for quality residential accommodation.”
The proposal does not include off-street vehicle parking but relies on the current on-street provision instead.
Inverclyde Council’s planning requirement would be for 16 residential spaces and three visitor spaces to be provided.
The design document argues: “We believe that this is an over-provision for this site’s intended use and location and will be impossible to achieve on-site due to its sloping nature.
“This would render the site’s development financially unviable. In addition, the site has easy access to both bus and train routes as well as cycling and walking options, which suggest an alternative approach be considered.”
