A LARGE blaze broke out at the former Arts Guild Theatre in Greenock’s West End.

Flames ripped through the roof of the premises in Campbell Street on Sunday evening and a high-reach platform was used to help bring the fire under control.

Fire crews were at the scene until after 3am.

The theatre closed when the Beacon Arts Centre opened in 2013.

Permission to demolish the building was given several years ago.

Another, less serious, fire broke out at the building in October.
