A DEVELOPER has submitted a revised plan for apartments on vacant land beside Gourock Ropeworks in Port Glasgow.
Advance Construction, in partnership with Merchant Homes, has applied to construct 24 flats on a walled, triangular site between the A8 road and the railway line.
A proposal submitted last year, seeking permission for 28 apartments, has been withdrawn.
Other changes include a pitched instead of a flat roof and not having balconies.
A design statement submitted as part of the planning application to Inverclyde Council explains: “The proposed development aims to be sympathetic to the historic ropeworks building.
“The flatted block should complement the prominent brick of the Ropeworks, whilst also reflecting the adjacent residential scheme to the west of the Ropeworks.”
The application is pending assessment by planners.
Housing association River Clyde Homes completed a development of 41 properties, pictured below, on derelict land on the other side of Gourock Ropeworks in 2018.
