PLANNERS are being asked to approve a two-storey extension at a Gourock property set in more than an acre of garden ground.

The additional accommodation is proposed for a house on Cloch Road, overlooking McInroy’s Point.

It would include a gym, with sauna, cinema lounge, family room and hot tub.

A design statement by Staran Architects, submitted with the planning application, explains: “The existing house is located on an elevated site on the Cloch Road in Gourock with stunning views across to the Holy Loch and Loch Long.

“The size of the existing house is relatively modest at 250 square metres, yet it sits within over an acre of garden ground. The proposals aim to sensitively extend and upgrade the existing property to meet the current owner’s and their family’s needs.”

The statement continues: “Rather than mimic the architectural style of the existing house, which could be viewed as pastiche, the extension’s aesthetic is contemporary.

“The new single-storey link between the original house and extension ensures that their individual architectural identities are maintained, and they sit alongside each other comfortably.”

“Additionally, the proposal has no adverse impact on daylighting, sunlight or privacy to neighbouring properties and gardens.

“In summary, the proposal has been carefully considered to ensure a contemporary design which is not detrimental to the character of the existing building or the surrounding area.”

The proposal is pending assessment by Inverclyde Council officials.
