EVENT Focusing On Historic Steamboat Comet

AN event shining the spotlight on the paddle steamer Comet takes place at Port Glasgow Town Hall this week.

There will be displays, children’s activities and the chance to discover and share stories about the vessel which was built in Port Glasgow and became the first commercially successful passenger steamboat in Europe when it entered service in 1812.

There will also be information about the new replica of the Comet which is currently under construction.

The event is being held by Inverclyde Heritage Network with Alex Fox, Inverclyde Council’s heritage co-ordinator
and takes place from 11am to 4pm, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (16 to 18 April).
