THE former Glenfield Care Home in Greenock’s West End has been put on the market for offers over £675,000.
Chartered surveyors DM Hall, who are handling the sale, said the substantial Victorian-era property is an opportunity for redevelopment or conversion in a sought-after area.
Glenfield, on Bedford Street at Union Street, has modern extensions and spans four floors with 33 bedrooms, generous communal areas, a kitchen, passenger lifts, and storage, with on-site car parking and private garden grounds.

Anthony Zdanowicz, an associate at DM Hall, said: “Glenfield is a landmark property in a lovely area of Greenock with great residential development potential.
“We have already had some interest, and we expect it will appeal to a wide variety of prospective purchasers, whether for conversion to high-quality apartments or another sympathetic redevelopment project, subject to the necessary consents.”
Glenfield’s operators, Greenock Medical Aid Society (GMAS), announced the facility’s closure in June, citing rising costs and sector-wide challenges. It had been a care home since 1926.
