A 28-YEAR-old man was injured and his dog died after they were hit by a car in Greenock.
The driver fled the scene of the crash which happened on Belville Street, at St Lawrence Street around 8.40pm on Friday.
The road was closed until around midday on Saturday as police investigated.
Police Scotland said: “The dog died at the scene. The pedestrian was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. The driver left the scene. Enquiries are ongoing.”
