DANCE The Summer Away With The Lindsay-Wood Collective

15 June, 2024 | Local

THE Lindsay-Wood Dance Collective is holding a series of summer workshops for all ages, having flourished since re-opening six months ago.

The much-loved school, which had been open since 1926, was relaunched by Ellie Wood, granddaughter of Lindsay and Patti Wood who previously ran it, following a 10-year break.

Adults and teens of all ages have either discovered a newfound love for dance or have dug out their old dance shoes after years of retirement.

Ellie said: “Each class has been an absolute joy to teach and I am so lucky to have such a bubbly and welcoming group to look forward to each week.

“Over the summer I will be holding different workshops throughout July for all ages.”

Classes will be held at Parkview Studios, 9 Duff Street, Greenock, as follows:

Junior classes (age three-plus): Mondays, 11am to noon

Classes will be inspired by classic childhood films such as Alice in Wonderland, Encanto, Frozen and Barbie. Props, toys and costumes are welcomed and encouraged.

Senior/Adult classes (age 13-plus): Mondays, 5:30 to 6:30PM.

These classes will include commercial, heels, tap and musical theatre jazz.

Golden Girls Tap (age 55-plus): Fridays, 9:30 to 10:30AM.

Classes will be sound-tracked to various different classic musicals such as 42nd Street, Anything goes, Cabaret and Chicago.

The collective can be contacted on lindsay.wood.dc@gmail.com or via its Facebook page.

From August, classes will operate as normal.
