CRICKET — Opening Of Season PostponedINVERCLYDE’S first match has been cancelled after the Western District Cricket Union decided to delay the season by at least a week because of continuing covid restrictions in Glasgow.
All games scheduled for Saturday 22 May were declared null and void and will not be rescheduled.
Inverclyde had been due to host East Renfrewshire at Gourock Park.
Further training sessions for juniors and seniors will take place instead, from noon to 4pm.
Captain Gareth James was pleased to see a good turnout last weekend which included some new faces, and encourages all to attend for much needed practice after the long lay-off.
Newcomers are welcome and will receive coaching from Inverclyde’s experienced team.
