CRECHE Plan For West End Flat Is Refused

PLANNERS have refused permission for a Greenock West End flat to be used as a creche.

Mama’s Little Lambs had applied for the living room, kitchen, hallway and bathroom at a property on Eldon Street to be mixed use, with up to nine children to be looked after there. It was to be staffed by residents of the flat.

Inverclyde Council planning department rejected the proposal.

Their decision report stated: “In accordance with the advice given from the Council’s Public Protection Service, it is considered that the residential flat is unsuitable for the proposed use as it would likely create conflict with neighbouring uses in terms of noise.

“The proposal would result in an increased number of visitors to the flatted building from persons dropping off and collecting children and this would present a detrimental impact in terms of privacy.

They also stated: “By failing to provide suitable off-street parking for users of the proposed creche, the proposal would create an unacceptable adverse impact on the efficient operation of the transport and active travel networks.”
