COVID Funding Available For Struggling Businesses

GRANTS of up to £10,000 are being made available to help Inverclyde businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

A new fund has been launched by Inverclyde Council to support organisations which have had no or little financial assistance from existing schemes.

One-off payments of up to £10,000 are available for businesses with less than 50 employees which have been unable to secure any other coronavirus funding to date.

A further grant of up to £2,500 is on offer to firms which have had other covid financial support but can demonstrate that this has not been sufficient to keep them in a viable trading position.

The smaller amount will only be paid in exceptional circumstances.

Councillor Michael McCormick, Inverclyde Council’s convener of environment and regeneration, said: “Businesses are struggling, there’s no doubt about it.

“Small businesses in particular are the backbone of our economy, so it’s vitally important that they are provided with as much help as possible.

“Hopefully this new funding will provide a lifeline to local firms, particularly those which have so far been unable to access any of the other covid-19 financial support schemes.”

The funding is being made available by the Scottish Government and will be administered by the council.
