
A SUCCESSFUL Kilmacolm business couple’s plan to open a café in the village has been approved.
Poonam and Puneet Gupta’s company SAPP Property Ltd applied for permission to change the use of the empty shop unit beside the Co-op on Lochwinnoch Road.
Inverclyde Council officials have give the proposal the go-ahead.
The cafe will have seating for more than 30 and will be open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm, and Sunday, 9am to 6pm.

Planning officers stated: “The proposed change of use of the unit is acceptable in bringing a vacant premises into active use to the overall benefit of the amenity and vibrancy of the local centre and which preserves and enhances the Kilmacolm Cross Conservation Area and overall amenity.”
The Guptas’ business interests include PG Paper which trades in 60 countries. They have both been honoured with OBE’s for their services to business and charity in recent years.
