Inverclyde Now Logo CORONAVIRUS Shutdown Hits Whinhill Golf Course

20 March, 2020 | Sport

WHINHILL golf course and clubhouse have been closed under the latest coronavirus restrictions.

Initially Inverclyde Council have closed the Greenock course until 31 March.

After that, any decision on when the course will re-open will be taken by Inverclyde Leisure which takes over management of the facility on 1 April 2020.

The same situation applies to the clubhouse.

Currently all Inverclyde Leisure’s facilities are closed and are not expected to re-open until at least the end of April.

It’s expected that Whinhill’s locker rooms will remain closed until the end of April but access will be provided from 7am to 4.30pm today (Friday 20 March), Saturday and Sunday (21/22 March) for anyone who wants to collect items.

Whinhill Golf CLub’s annual general meeting, which was scheduled for today, has been postponed indefinitely.

The club stated: “We thank our members in advance for their support and recognise the inconvenience these actions must cause; however, they are the only appropriate actions available to the golf club to ensure the safety and well-being of all concerned.”
