INVERCLYDE Council is proposing to dispose of an area of land in Kilmacolm to a housing developer.
The deal would be with MacTaggart & Mickel Homes in connection with their proposed development of private housing on a larger site at Kilmacolm Meadow, west of Quarry Drive, adjacent to the council-owned land at Wateryetts Drive.
The council is required to consult the public as the plot, beside the roundabout in Wateryetts Drive, is public open space.

Part of the land would be used to form an access road into the development, and the rest would become a community orchard (or similar) with relaxation space.

Planning permission in principle has been granted for the Kilmacolm Meadow development. The site has capacity for around 75 homes. Nearly 500 villagers objected to the development.
Conditions of planning consent include that 25 per cent of the accommodation will be ‘affordable housing’ and there will be a developer contribution towards off-site works to improve the walking and cycling environment in Kilmacolm.
