WESTBURN Parish Church is hosting a concert by the Lanarkshire Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra, Da Capo Alba.
It takes place on Saturday 10 June at 7pm at the church on Nelson Street, Greenock, and will feature music from the movies.
Ian Pommerenke-Steel, the Lanarkshire Guitar and Mandolin Association’s administrator and co-founder, said: “Most people in Scotland have never heard a mandolin and guitar orchestra, but when they do they are pleasantly surprised by the sound of mandolins, mandolas, guitars and double bass, all of which complement each other in producing a unique orchestral sound.
“Da Capo Alba play a wide variety of music including classical, modern and even pop. We are absolutely delighted to be performing for the first time in Inverclyde.”
The orchestra has links with Greenock through two local musicians, Calum and Duncan Harbison, who play, conduct and arrange some of the music.
Tickets are £10 (£8 concessions), and this includes refreshments at the interval. Call 07847 250529 for tickets or further information.
