Inverclyde Now Logo WITNESS Plea After Man Slashed At His Door In Port Glasgow

A PORT Glasgow man was slashed on the face early today by someone who came to his door.

The 42-year-old was in his flat at Auchenbothie Road with friends around half past midnight when the attack happened.

Detective Inspector David Wagstaff said: “The door entry system at the property was pressed and when the householder opened the door he was met by a man who slashed him with a sharp implement.”

The incident is being treated as a serious assault. The victim was taken to hospital and needed stitches in the wound.

The attacker is described as stocky, in his 40s, with long hair in a ponytail, wearing dark clothing.

Anyone who saw him in the area is urged to call police on 101.
