Inverclyde Now Logo WESTBURN Church Holding Taize-Style Service

16 March, 2017 | Noticeboard

A TAIZE-style service is being held in Westburn Church, Nelson Street, Greenock later this month.

All are welcome at the event on Sunday 26 March. The evening will begin with an informal, optional singing practice at 7 o’clock.

Tea and coffee will be available from 7.30 in the large hall and the service will begin at 8pm.

Taize is a monastic community in France which welcomes thousands of visitors each year. The style of worship is meditative and relatively quiet, incorporating distinctive choral music and times of silence.

The church is especially keen to see singers go along, particularly if they can sing in parts. The songs are short and simple, but very effective if a few people can sing parts while others just follow the melody line.

As well as the 7pm practice, there will also be a short music practice after Westburn’s morning service on Sunday 26 March for anyone who is interested.
