32nd Troop Camp In ‘Sub-Zero’ Conditions

Three patrols from the 32nd Troop camped in freezing conditions at the annual Clyde Region Sub Zero camp at Auchengillan campsite outside Glasgow. Several of the Scouts managed to clock up Zodiac credits (for the camping-round-the-year challenge) as well as taking part in many activities including swimming in the heated pool in minus 1 conditions and inflatable snowboarding.

A highlight was the hog roast supper.

32nd Northface Explorers At Training Weekend

The 32nd Northface Explorer Unit members attended the Regional young leaders’ training weekend at the National Scout Centre at Lochgoilhead last weekend along with 50 other young leaders from West Region. All eight young leaders are well on their way to achieving their young leader belt buckles.

Mid-term Fun For The 70th Beavers

Instead of the usual evening meeting, 70th leaders and parents provided a sleepover for a few of the older Beavers and a day of activities for the colony. The Beavers made biscuits for morning snack and pizza for lunch as well as taking a trip to local places of interest, making an obstacle course, enjoying the pillow case challenge and also a paper plane challenge along with various crafts.

The group thank all adults who helped especially Mark who led an indoor campfire after lunch.

Aberdeen Trip for 85th

Scouts from the 85th Inverkip and Wemyss Bay went to Aberdeen for an activity and Burns Supper camp at Templars Park.

They mixed in camping skills with archery and crate climbing and the Scouts laid on a Burns Supper in the evening, peeling countless potatoes, baking caramel shortcake and apple pie, and rehearsing the readings and poems to make sure it went smoothly.

Chilly Training For 6th

Scouts from the 6th Greenock and District enjoyed a chilly weekend training camp at Everton, near Inverkip, setting up a full site, doing some pioneering and cooking over an open fire.

70th Cubs Try Cooking And DIY

The 70th Cubs have been getting domestic in recent weeks and are now halfway through working towards the Chef and DIY badges. As well as learning about nutrition and different foods, the budding chefs have been cooking up butternut squash risotto and chocolate mousse. Other groups have been working on their joinery skills making key holders and mug trees. Hopefully, in the next few weeks, everyone will have completed all they need to gain both badges.

33rd Beavers Feel The Love

The boys and girls of the 33rd Beavers had a great night playing some games and then, with the help of leaders and young leaders, made Valentine’s cards and crafts. The group also welcomed a new Beaver, Kaiden, to the 33rd and to the Scouting family.
