Inverclyde Now Logo RESIDENTS Urged To Make Sure They Are Registered For Vote

15 March, 2017 | Noticeboard

INVERCLYDE residents are being urged to make sure they are registered to vote in the council elections on 4 May.

People who are not registered have until Monday 17 April to do so otherwise they won’t be able to take part

Alasdair MacTaggart, electoral registration officer for Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde, said: “I encourage everyone in Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde to take action now if they’re not already registered to vote. It’s quick and easy to register, but after the deadline of 17 April, it will be too late.”

Andy O’Neill, head of the electoral commission in Scotland, said: “Our research shows that young people, students and recent home movers are particularly less likely to be registered to vote. So those who have moved house recently should make sure they are registered correctly.”
