A GREENOCK opticians has donated 75 high visibility vests to pupils at St Andrew’s Primary School, Greenock.

The donation was part of Specsavers’s pledge to help youngsters stay safe when out on darker afternoons and evenings.

Alan Connick, head teacher at the school, said: “The high visibility vest donation from Specsavers will be very beneficial in helping our staff ensure pupils are visible on Greenock’s streets, especially in winter.

“It was a pleasure to welcome store director Jonathan Dry to the school to present the vests to our children.”

Jonathan said: “Helping local children be safe and be seen is an important focus for our store. We were delighted to donate the vests to St Andrew’s Primary School.

“This is the latest of several schools in the area we’ve had the opportunity to supply vests to and help spread the road safety message.”

Last year vests were donated to Kilmacolm and Inverkip primary schools.
