Inverclyde Now Logo OVERNIGHT Closures Of M8 Towards Inverclyde

18 April, 2017 | Noticeboard

MOTORISTS heading to Inverclyde on the M8 from the Glasgow area will be diverted via Erskine each night after 8 o’clock from Tuesday to Friday this week.

Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is resurfacing a one-kilometre stretch of the westbound M8 at Junction 30 (Erskine Bridge).

Overnight traffic will have to leave the M8 at Junction 29 (Glasgow Airport) and take the A726 to Erskine and then the M898 slip road towards Greenock, returning to the M8 via the Junction 30 on-slip.

The diversion will apply after 8pm each day from today (Tuesday 18 April) to Friday (21 April). The road will re-open at 6am each day apart from Saturday when it will re-open at noon.

The diversion will be fully signed and monitored.

Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s principal road design engineer, said: “This is not only one of Scotland’s busiest roads, but it is also an essential commuter, economic and tourist artery and that is why we are doing everything possible to minimise disruption by using overnight working to deliver long-term benefits to motorists.”
