Inverclyde Now Logo NEW Marie Curie Group Hope Funds Will Bloom From Great Daffodil Appeal

21 February, 2017 | Noticeboard

A NEW Marie Curie fund-raising group in Inverclyde is calling on residents to help people with terminal illnesses and their loved ones by supporting the charity’s work.

The group, pictured, from right, Mharianne Dennett, Charlotte Williams and Maggie MacKean, is celebrating the launch of the Great Daffodil Appeal in Inverclyde.

Vital funds will be raised by the group of locals so Marie Curie Nurses can continue to provide free care to people with cancer and all terminal illnesses.

The team will be placing daffodil collection boxes in the area and co-ordinating can collections throughout February and March while encouraging everyone to make a donation and wear their daffodil.

Lynsey Neilson, community fund-raiser at Marie Curie, said: “The new group in Inverclyde will make a huge difference locally by helping to raise the vital funds needed to support Marie Curie Nurses, who provided 1,848 hours of free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes throughout Inverclyde last year.

“As this is the group’s first fund-raising event, let’s make every daffodil count!”

Anyone who can spare a couple of hours to help collect in Morrison’s or Poundworld in Greenock, is asked to give Lynsey a call on 07771 963622 or go online and sign up at www.mariecurie.org.uk/daffodil.
