Inverclyde Now Logo GAS Pipe Work Will Cause Disruption In Gourock

6 February, 2017 | Noticeboard

WORK to upgrade the gas network will cause disruption in Gourock town centre for around six weeks from today.

Nearly £250,000 is being spent on the project by network managers SGN. The first phase will be carried out in the Shore Street area of Gourock, including Kempock Place and Bath Street.

SGN say the work involves replacing old metal gas mains with plastic pipe — which has a minimum lifespan of 80 years — to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.

After the pipe work is done, resurfacing by Inverclyde Council will take place.

Disruption will include:

— Some parking restrictions in Kempock Place and Shore Street.

— Temporary traffic lights or stop/go boards, between 9.30am and 4pm, during work in Shore Street,

— Bath Street closed between Kempock Place and Adelaide Street from 20 February until 19 March.

The wider project in Gourock will continue in residential streets – Barrhill Road and Albert Road -– after the first phase is completed around 19 March.
