AMAZON’S Gourock fulfilment centre has made a £1,000 donation to local charity, Children in Poverty Inverclyde.

Established in January 2014, the charity aims to tackle poverty, improve health and promote equality for all within the local community.

It provides family fun days and holidays, creating an environment where children and their families feel stimulated, energised and happy.

Amazon’s donation allowed 105 children and their parents to visit Hunter’s Quay Holiday Village where they enjoyed a whole host of activities, including live music, games and prizes.

Members of the Amazon charity committee joined Inverclyde Provost Robert Moran and local MSP Stuart McMillan to wave the children off as their coaches departed for their day of fun.

General Manager at Amazon Gourock, Gavin Morrison said: “When the team at Amazon Gourock heard about the incredibly important work that Children in Poverty does to support children and their parents throughout Inverclyde, we were eager to contribute through our community programme.

“Our local families are so important to us and we saw this as an opportunity to bring people together through fun and play. We hope that everyone had a fantastic day.”

Pat Burke from Children in Poverty added: “I would like to issue a heartfelt thanks to the Amazon Gourock team on behalf of the charity and everyone who enjoyed the fun day.

“Amazon’s generous donation of £1,000 was pivotal in the funding of the trip. We aim to put smiles on the faces of families going through tough times, and this trip certainly did that. Thanks again to Gavin and the team!”
