A RANGE of events is being held in the run up to Gourock Highland Games next weekend.
On Friday 12 May there will be a family ceilidh at the Gamble Halls, Shore Street from 7pm until 11pm. Tickets cost £10 for adults, £5 for children, and include supper. They are on sale from Pirate and Blubelle, 23 Kempock Street, Gourock. Call 01475 636143 to reserve.
On Saturday 13 May the The Magic Agency — stilt walking juggler and hula hoop performer — will have come-and-try sessions from noon in the town centre.
There will be a heritage display in rooms at the former Gourock Municipal Buildings from 12 to 4pm.
Greenock Art Club are having an art and crafts sale in their temporary home beside the police station at 3-5 Kempock Place from 11am until 4pm.
Two different music-themed walks start at 11am, one from Cardwell Bay and the other from Gourock promenade, both making their way towards Gourock town centre with buskers located en route. The buskers are all sourced through the local Songwriters Uncovered group. They will be raising funds to help provide free rehearsals for Inverclyde’s young musicians at The Hub in Kempock Street. Meanwhile, also on Saturday, Gourock music festival Go-rock takes place at The Darroch Bar, The Victoria Bar, Monteith’s and The Royalle Club from 3pm. Event wristbands are priced at £10 which gives access to five indoor stages featuring more than 30 acts. More information is available at musiconthebrain.org
