Inverclyde Now Logo DRIVERS Warned Of Roads Affected By Water Improvement Work

16 July, 2019 | Noticeboard

WORK by Scottish Water will lead to the closure of two Greenock roads plus a lane restriction on the A8 dual carriageway.

From Wednesday 31 July, MacDougall Street will be closed from its junction with the A8 up to Cartsdyke Railway Station for approximately one week. Access will be maintained for local businesses.

And from Monday 5 August, Ratho Street will be closed from its junction with the A8 up to its junction with Belville Street for around two weeks. Local access will be maintained.

The A8 will be reduced to one lane westbound between MacDougall Street and Ratho Street off-peak from 9.30am to 3.30pm during this period. Scottish Water say the road traffic management measures have been agreed in liaison with Inverclyde Council and are supported by trunk road contractor Transerv.

Ruaridh MacGregor, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs regional manager, said: “This upgrade work on our water infrastructure will help reduce the chance of pipes bursting and means that our customers in the area continue to enjoy clear, fresh water.

“We thank all road users and customers in advance for their patience and understanding during this work.”

He added: “Some customers may experience a change in water pressure and/or discoloured water during the works. If this happens, simply turn on the cold water tap in your kitchen and let the water flow slowly until it runs clear.”
