POLICE in Inverclyde are teaming up with trading standards officers to offer advice to local residents about doorstep crime.

They are holding a series of information events across the district:

Thursday 25 May — Cardwell Garden Centre, near Gourock, 11am to 2pm

Friday 26 May — Oak Mall, Greenock, 11am to 3pm

Monday 29 May — Port Glasgow Tesco/Kilmacolm Community Centre (times to be confirmed)

Along with community wardens, police will also be carrying out leaflet drops and working with local banks to raise awareness amongst their customers.

Sergeant Laura Stewart said; “Our aim is to raise awareness about the different types of doorstep crime and help people in Inverclyde protect themselves and their loved ones from being caught out by these often very convincing and callous criminals.”
