Inverclyde Now Logo ‘BOG Stomp’ Trail Run Through Inverclyde’s Moorland Is Back For 2017

5 July, 2017 | Noticeboard

A 10-KILOMETRE trail run from the Greenock Cut Visitor Centre takes place in September in aid of veterans’ charity Erskine.

Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park’s Bog Stomp over the hills and moorland near Loch Thom is being held on Sunday 3 September starting at Greenock Cut Visitor Centre at 10am.

Richard Cooper, one of the first over the line in 2016, said: “What an absolutely brilliant course it turned out to be — hills, bogs, tracks, lochs, and fantastic views all the time. This is an excellent race, and lots of fun too.”

Catherine Noble from Bridge of Weir, who took part last year and has signed up again, said: “This was my first 10km event. It was fantastic — the scenery was absolutely stunning.”

The route covers a mixture of terrain in the hills of Inverclyde. The initial ascent is steep, climbing Dunrod Hill, and the course then gently undulates across tufted and grassy moorland with the odd trail and reservoir track until the home stretch which follows a gravelly track alongside Compensation Reservoir back to the Visitor Centre.

Entry costs £20 and includes a goody bag with finishers’ medal, a t-shirt and a £5 donation to charity Erskine.
