Inverclyde Now Logo COAST Road Footway To Be Widened For Cyclists

23 January, 2020 | Local

NEARLY one kilometre of the footpath beside the coast road near Gourock is to be widened to make it more bike-friendly.

Inverclyde Council is in the process of appointing a contractor for the £140,000 project.

It involves around 825 metres of the pavement on Cloch Road, between Lunderston Bay and Cloch Lighthouse.

The aim is to make the footway more suitable for use by cyclists as well as pedestrians.

The kerb line will be moved out as far as possible without impacting the carriageway width.

The council say this can be done because of the unused spaced between the existing kerb line and the edge of carriageway road marking.
