THE owners of an Inverclyde caravan park want permission to use neighbouring land for a large increase in pitches.

Penine Leisure have applied to use part of a field north of their site at Kellybank at Wemyss Bay.

The proposal would give space for nearly 80 extra pitches for caravans and mobile homes.

Car parking and estate roads would also be formed.

Expansion would take place in part of the field opposite the existing caravan site

Penine already have permission to use a field at nearby Kelly Mains Farm, beside the Parkdean caravan park, for up to 50 extra caravan/mobile home pitches.

The family-run operation have previously stated that occupancy figures have been increasing.

Kellybank has 140 caravan pitches at present, up from 80 when Penine purchased the caravan park in 2002.

The owners of Cloch Caravan Park have applied to use land by the Clyde at Gourock for a mobile home site.
