UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves is to visit Inchgreen, Greenock to see first-hand how £20 million from the UK Government’s Growth Mission Fund will revitalise the vacant dry dock into a major jobs creator.
The investment is expected to create up to 350 jobs and between 600 and 1,400 indirect positions.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves said: “Investment in Scotland’s industry is an investment in Scotland’s future. The UK Government is supporting businesses that are the backbone of this great nation and creating opportunities in every community.”
Councillor Stephen McCabe, leader of Inverclyde Council, said: “The additional investment and practical support from the government will help us to realise our shared ambition of unlocking the huge potential of Inchgreen and bringing much-needed employment and training opportunities to Inverclyde.
“This is a significant moment in the ongoing redevelopment of this national, maritime asset and we are delighted to welcome the chancellor on site to share our vision of bringing hundreds and potentially thousands of jobs to Inchgreen and Inverclyde.”
